Duties and Responsibilities of
2027 Leadership 

  • President (one-year term)

    • NAR Director during presidential year 
    • MAR Director during presidential year 
    • Attendance at NAR meetings including Legislative Meetings and NAR NXT 
    • Attendance at MAR meetings including MAR Conference and Installation 
    • Attendance at RCAMA meetings/events including Board of Directors, Executive Committee, spokesperson training, Day on the Hill, Installation, etc. 
    • Attendance at various local association events  
    • Serve as RCAMA immediate Past President in the following year 
    • Represent the Board and its members, act in its name and best interest, subject to its declared policies. 
    • Be knowledgeable and aware of Board objectives, the association’s strategic plan, programs and activities at local, state and national levels. 
    • Serve as the spokesperson for the Board and represent the interests and objectives of the Board dealings with the news media, allied organizations and industries, local, state and federal legislators, the general public and the State and National associations.  
    • With the assistance of the Officers and CEO, guide the business affairs of the Board. 
    • Provide leadership that motivates officers, Board members, committee members, and the broader membership. 
    • Establish annual goals for the Board, which are in concert with the strategic plan and carry it out with other Officers, Directors, members and staff. 
    • Chair all meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and general membership 
    • Review agendas for meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and general membership with the CEO. 
    • Appoint committee chairpersons and recommend committee members. Outline the purpose, goals and duties of committees (as established by the Board) and monitor their progress in meeting stated objectives. 
  • President-elect (one-year term with automatic ascension to President)

    • Assume all duties of the President in the event of their incapacity, absence, removal from office or resignation. 
    • Alternate MAR Director in case the President is unavailable 
    • Attendance at NAR meetings including Legislative Meetings in Washington, DC, NAR NXT, and Leadership Summit in Chicago 
    • Attendance at RCAMA meetings/events including Board of Directors, Executive Committee, spokesperson training, Day on the Hill, Installation, etc. 
    • Attendance at various local association events  
  • Secretary/Treasurer (one-year term)

    • Chair of the Finance Committee 
    • Attendance at RCAMA meetings/events including Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Day on the Hill, Installation, etc. 
    • Sign all orders or resolutions (including bank resolutions) passed by the Board of Directors, when authorized by the Board of Directors. 
    • Present monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors  
    • In conjunction with the CEO and President, have custody of all funds/securities of the corporation. 
    • Ensure that all funds are deposited in the name of the corporation and that proper accounting procedures are in effect. 
    • Make recommendations for investment of Board reserves to earn the highest dividend, while maintaining financial integrity of the Board. 
    • Prepare, with the President and CEO an annual budget and present it for approval to the Board of Directors and general membership. 
  • Regional Director (two-year term)

    • Attendance at RCAMA meetings/events including Board of Directors, Day on the Hill, Installation, etc. 
    • Serve on a committee 
    • Be an ambassador to to members in your region 
  • Director (one-year Term)

    • Attendance at RCAMA meetings/events including Board of Directors, Day on the Hill, Installation, etc. 
    • Serve on a committee 
  • Committee Chair

    • Guides the committee's purpose and activities. 
    • Key responsibilities include running orderly meetings, setting strategic goals, collaborating with RCAMA staff, and reporting outcomes directly to the Board of Directors.
    • Actively foster member participation and track progress against the association's annual objectives.

    Please note, applicants for committee chair do not need to interview for the position.

  • Committee Member

    • Shapes local policies and plans professional or community events.
    • Members are responsible for attending regular meetings, actively participating in assigned initiatives, and reviewing relevant documents

All Board members will share in the following responsibilities: 

  • Approve new applicants for membership and establish membership dues and privileges 
  • Act on committee reports/recommendations 
  • Overall policy responsibility 
  • Establish and approve program priorities for each fiscal year 
  • Review and approve/disapprove RCAMA annual budget and any adjustments thereto 
  • Appoint any special committees deemed necessary to aid the Board in the performance of its functions 

All elected and appointed positions will begin on January 1 and end on December 31. Volunteer leadership shall be representative of the membership and be selected based on factors that reflect commercial practices within the Association such as geography, general and specialized practice or representation and affiliation. 

Board members will understand and agree to abide by the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and other membership policies adopted by RCAMA, MAR and NAR. They will also familiarize themselves with the following: 

  • Current bylaws, rules, regulations and policies of the Board. 
  • The Board’s Strategic Plan 
  • Robert’s Rules of Order and basic parliamentary procedures 
  • Legislative activity and litigation affecting the industry and the Board on a local, state and national level 


Become an Association Leader

The annual nomination and election of officers and directors for the REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of Massachusetts (RCAMA) is intended to be an open process in which members may nominate themselves for volunteer leadership positions. 



Within this information, you will find the job description and candidate qualifications for each elected and appointed position, as well as a link to the nomination form which must be completed and submitted to the RCAMA Nominating Committee in order to be eligible for consideration in 2027.  Leadership applications must be submitted by September 7, 2026.  


The RCAMA Nominating Committee is responsible for reviewing all nominations to ensure candidates meet the qualifications of the position they have been nominated to serve, and may require interviews of nominees. 


The Nominating Committee will vote on a recommended slate of officers and directors for the association for 2027, which will be presented to the RCAMA Board of Directors for approval at their annual meeting, which will be scheduled October 23.
